The 2 sides in the american revolution were diff bc the British had a well trained army and was supported by the wealth of the empire.
The patriots had no regular army and a weak navy. American soldiers lacked experience and had weak weapons.

they knew where to lay an ambush and help from other countries.
The Continental Army fared in the early battles of the war bc due to them not being a real army but more like a militia full of untrained personnel.
they were outnumbered in all the early battles and had little to no time to organize effective battle units.
The British relied on mercenaries to fight for them.
