Vulnerability

The disadvantages are that it's an expensive, time-consuming process; it sometimes involves complicated calculations; some of the precision may be illusory because of estimated values or risks; and some areas are very difficult to quantify. For qualitative analysis, the advantages are that it's faster and cheaper, and it leverages the experience of your team in determining the biggest risks rather than drowning in math. The disadvantages are that it's hard to use for budgeting of safeguards, and it ranks risks but does not give a good idea of the absolute costs of each. There is also potential value in semi-quantitive analysis, which may be able to mitigate the shortcomings of the previous methods. When it comes to risk, there is not necessarily an objectively right answer. Students may need more information about a situation before the best approach becomes obvious.

Develetech, a relatively large electronics manufacturer, is looking to expand its business domestically and internationally over the next couple of years. This may include everything from taking on new staff to establishing additional offices and warehouses. Why would these changes necessitate the development of an ERM strategy?
