Jargon is the technical vocabulary of a hobby, occupation, or other specialized activity. Ex. 1: I downloaded my friend's podcast on my cell and then uploaded it to my audio library software before syncing that with my MP3 player, creating a backup on my external hard drive, and then ripping a disc so my dad could listen to the show in his car.

Nonstandard Spoken English: Can include elements of Standar Spoken English and also be slang, familiar mainly to a certain region or culture, invented or coined. Many people use this in everyday communication and in any comfortable or informal exchange.

Substance is the content-the message communicated through the denotations of words. Style is the speaker's way the message is expressed, and is determined by word choice, connotation, syntax, and organization.

They both convey meaning. A word's denotation is the explicit, literal meaning (dictionary definition). A word's connotation is a word;s implied or suggested meaning. They can involve emotions, images, or memories.
