If an audience member does not understand the connotative meaning of a word, then you should try and change the word to one that has the same connotation. If you must use an unfamiliar word, then give a clear definition of the meaning. Think about what words will be unfamiliar for your audience and make substitutions whenever possible.

Jargon is the technical vocabulary of a hobby, occupation, or other specialized activity. Ex. 1: I downloaded my friend's podcast on my cell and then uploaded it to my audio library software before syncing that with my MP3 player, creating a backup on my external hard drive, and then ripping a disc so my dad could listen to the show in his car.
