Elijah and the prophets of Baal
Elijah built an altar of
12 stones one for each of the 12 of the tribes of Israel and then poured four jars of water
Elijah challenged 450 prophets of Baal and
400 prophets of asherah to a contest at mount Carmel
Obadiah was scared that ahab would
Kill him if Elijah did not then present himself to the King
Whichever God
Set the pile alight would be the true God
When ahab met Elijah ahab said
Is that you you troubler of Israel
They poured
Water three times
The people shouted
The Lord he is God
The prophets of Baal
Called on their God but nothing happened
King ahab sent the prophet obadiah to
Find water during a terrible drought and famine
Elijah prayed to god
God sent fire to consume the sacrifice
Elijah assured him that
He would meet the King
Two bulls were cut in pieces and
Placed on two piles of wood but not set alight
Elijah replied
That the real troubler was ahab
Elijah commanded that
The prophets of Baal should be killed
Elijah told the people that
They had to choose between the worship of God or the worship of Baal
Elijah went
To pray at the top of mount Carmel
It began
To rain heavily
Obadiah met elijah elijah told him
To report to ahab that he had met him
Elijah teased them and told them
To shout louder to wake up Baal but nothing happened
