photon

A photon is an elementary particle, the quantum of the electromagnetic field including electromagnetic radiation such as light, and the force carrier for the electromagnetic force

visible light

Electromagnetic radiation in this range of wavelengths is called visible light or simply light. A typical human eye will respond to wavelengths from about 390 to 700 nm. In terms of frequency, this corresponds to a band in the vicinity of 430-770 THz.

electromagnetic wave

Electromagnetic waves are waves which can travel through the vacuum of outer space.

electromagnetic spectrum

Generally, electromagnetic radiation is classified by wavelength into radio wave, microwave, terahertz (or sub-millimeter) radiation, infrared, the visible region that is perceived as light, ultraviolet, X-rays and gamma rays.

infrared waves

Image result for infrared waves Infrared radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation, as are radio waves, ultraviolet radiation, X-rays and microwaves. Infrared (IR) light is the part of the EM spectrum that people encounter most in everyday life, although much of it goes unnoticed. It is invisible to human eyes, but people can feel it as heat.

thermogram

Infrared thermography (IRT), thermal imaging, and thermal video are examples of infrared imaging science.

microwaves

Microwaves are electromagnetic waves with wavelengths longer than those of terahertz (THz) wavelengths, but relatively short for radio waves. Microwaves have wavelengths approximately in the range of 30 cm (frequency = 1 GHz) to 1 mm (300 GHz)

polarized light

Polarized light waves are light waves in which the vibrations occur in a single plane.

photoelectric effect

The photoelectric effect or photo emission is the emission of electrons or other free carriers when light is shone onto a material.

electromagnetic radiation

a kind of radiation including visible light, radio waves, gamma rays, and X-rays, in which electric and magnetic fields vary simultaneously.

radio waves

an electromagnetic wave of a frequency between about 104 and 1011 or 1012 Hz, as used for long-distance communication.
