Content refers to the contents of the test test whether the the candidate will perform the job well. The test should reflect the duties/tasks of the job. Criterion and content tests high in validity. Construct tests low in validity because it tests underlying traits such as honesty that could be beneficial to the job.

Because job descriptions layout what is required for the worker to do their job, it also clarifies the physical aspects of the job. For example, if there is a job description for a pilot, the applicant must have good vision. Factors should include: The reason the job exists is to perform that function. Only a few employees can perform the function. The function is so highly specialized that the employer hires people into the position specifically because of their expertise in performing that function.

Filling positions with inside candidates can improve morale, as people see the opportunity to advance within their company. You also are aware of the employee's strengths and weaknesses. Current employees will also be more loyal to the company when they are promoted. Lastly, they require less orientation training, meaning you save money in that area.

Interview, questionnaire, and observation are the main methods of collecting information for a job analysis. The information is used to list the skills needed to perform the job, the education required, physical requirements to perform the job, the work environment (loud, outdoors, etc), it also ensures EEO laws are not being broken.

Strategic planning relates to employment planning and recruit in many ways. First, strategic planning seeks out the weaknesses the company has. If they have a growth they need to match, they can vamp up their recruiting to meet this need. Second, the strengths measured during the strategic planning can lead to employment planning in ways of training. If there is a new certification to the field they are in, HMRs can plan training courses needed to ensure their staff is certified. Third, strategic planning also look at their external threats. One can be their brand. For example, a local printing shop is known to have awful and rude service. The hiring managers recognize this and offer training to his/her staff or seeks to hire a leader who has strong customer service skills.

Structured: Questions are specified in advanced and rated on appropriateness. Is often asked to all candidates. Unstructured: When you ask random interview questions that come to mind. There is no set format. I think a structured interview is more effective. You can evaluate all of the candidate's answers and ask a variety of answers to get a full scope- behavioral or technical for example.

The HR department can protect employee data by performing background checks on people who will have access to personal data, not hiring a temp worker for someone who handles personal data, perform random background checks (as people may commit new crimes), and limit access to personal data like SSNs to HRMs.

The advantage is, it is inexpensive and efficient for large groups. A disadvantage could be the interviewee sees this more as a "efficiency evaluation" and will hesitate to describe the job accurately.
