Gross Motor Birth to 1 month

-assumes tonic neck posture -when prone, lifts and turns head

Language 6 to 8 months

-babbles vowel-like sounds, "ooh" or "aah" -imitation of speech sounds ("mamma", "Dada") begins -laughs aloud

Fine Motor 8 to 10 months

-beginning to use thumb-finger grasp -dominant hand use -has good hand-mouth coordination

Sensory 12 to 15 months

-binocular vision developed

Fine Motor 18 months

-can build a tower of 3 to 4 cubes -can use a spoon

Fine Motor 30 months

-can build a tower of 8 blocks -can use crayons -learning to use scissors

Fine Motor 24 months

-can draw a circle -tries to dress self

Fine Motor 12 to 15 months

-can feed self with cup and spoon -puts raisins into a bottle -may hold crayon or pencil and scribble -builds a tower of two cubes

Fine Motor 4 to 6 months

-can hold feet and put in mouth -can hold bottle -can grasp rattle and other small objects -puts object in mouth

Gross Motor 2 to 4 months

-can raise head and shoulders when prone to 45-90 degrees; supports self on forearms -rolls from back to side

Gross Motor 10 to 12 months

-can sit down from standing -walks around room holding onto objects -can stand alone

Gross Motor 12 to 15 months

-can walk alone well -can crawl up stairs

Gross Motor 24 months

-can walk up and down stairs -can kick a ball -can ride a tricycle

Sensory Birth to 1 month

-comforts with holding and touch -looks at faces -follows objects when in line of vision -alert to high-pitched voices -smiles

Gross Motor 8 to 10 months

-crawls on all fours or uses arms to pull body along floor -can pull self to sitting -can pull self to standing

-turns from stomach to back then back to stomach -when pulled to sitting, almost no head lag -by 6 months, can sit on floor with hands forward for support

Language 10 to 12 months

-understands "no" and other simple commands -learns one or two other words -imitates speech sounds -speaks gibberish
