Answer both of the following questions: a.How do varicose veins form? b.Why we do not ever see varicose arteries?

A. because the valves in the veins that should prevent blood from flowing backwards are not working as they should. The increase amount of blood in the veins results in the veins increase in mass. B. They do not form because arteries dont have valves that can malfunction and result in backflow and because their is no backflow the mass in the artery does not increase.

Using the following terms, pick a joint in the body and describe how the bones, muscles, and joints of that area work together to move the body?

I picked the hip which is a ball and socket joint the femur goes into the femral neck which is followed by the femral head(ball) and goes into the accetablum (socket). The femral head and the accetblum are a perfect fit and are held together with legaments/tendons which allows the hip to be strong and rarly dislocate. Hip Abductors muscles stablize your pelvis allowing you to walk easier we start to see a gait if this is weak. this along with many other muscles such as glutus maximu and all work to alllow motion. This then goes into the knee which allows you to bend and then the ankle which allows for support. Yet, your hip is very important when it comes to walking as it need these three joints to fully walk and the muscles around these joints to stabliez and allow mobilzation. In the knee the hamstring and qudtracept work together to allow the knee to bend. As for the anke the peroneal muscles work to provide movement and support to the ankle while in hip a number of muscles work together to allow moviemtn to the whole leg as all of these structure work together for support the leg needs walk in a full motion correctly

Muscle tissue is placed in three different solutions: Solution A: 5% Salt 0.5% ATP Solution B: 0% Salt 0.5% ATP Solution C: 5% Salt 0% ATP Based on your knowledge of muscle contraction and substances needed, which of the above solutions would provide the best source for a muscle contraction?

I would say solution A. To start with, we need ATP to stop muscle contractions and allow us to keep our muscles healthy which is why ATP is foresure needed. As for salt, It helps us regulate muscle contractions, nerve function and blood volume which is all needed to keep our muscles healthy and allow them to correct. For this reason, we would need to have a soultion with salt in it. Since this is the only choice with ATP and Salt it would be the best soultion for a muscle contraction as it has all elements a muscle contraction needs to thrive

Using your knowledge from your muscle model - describe the process of rigor mortis and how this event occurs in the body after death. Be sure to include the following concepts - ATP, Mysosin, Actin, Cross-bridge, Ca+ ions, muscle fiber.

To start with, rigor mortis is the hardening of the muscles with in the body after death. In order to understand how this occurs you must understand how our muscles get healthy and thrive. First and foremost, a message is sent to the neuro musclular junction from the axion terminal that it wants a contraction to occur. Calcium is then relased from sacroplasmic reticulum. These calcium ions then bind to the tropin on actin. From here the mysin will attact at crossbride with the help of ATP, the myosin pull action at the cross bridge, The actin then will pull past the myosin creating a motion. In the end, since we dont make ATP when we die this motion cannot occur as we need ATP to create muscle contractions and keep our muscles healthy which is why we they are stive as they need atp to preform this function
