Additional elements contributed to its "progressive" label: lyrics were more poetic, technology was harnessed for new sounds, music approached the condition of "art" and the studio, rather than the stage, became the focus of musical activity, which often involved creating music for listening, not dancing. It had more elaborate melodies, changing meters(sometimes polymetric), and sophisticated harmonies. Polymetric means instruments that are in a different meter than the song such as the drums in long distance runaround. Some songs had longer forms such as Jethro Tull's Thick as a Brick which lasted 43 minutes.
