Traversing a failed track circuit in release mode.
What function of the ATC car-borne equipment is verified in the Daily Test?
Triggering an emergency brake application
Assuming the engineer has indication, what procedure and corrective action must be taken if the PA4 train fails to take power?
Try using the motorman's bypass; reset motors, check control cut-out, move reverser key back and forth several times, try point of power in reverse: try to operate from the next cab in direction of travel, under flag using the bypass. IF that fails, split the train electronically by retrieving the electrical portion and see which section takes power. Move train from the live section using the Motorman's bypass. Good section must have equal or greater number of cars, if not, be prepared to couple to rescue train.

Uncoupled position
Under what conditions should a train engineer operate the ATC Bypass switch?
Under the direction of the trainmaster
What are the principal indications of a main reservoir rupture on a PA4 train?
Very slow loss of brake pipe and straight air pressures. If brake pipe pressure drops below 90 pounds, motor power will be lost, constant running of air compressor.
