What two sources of gas powers the PB840

Air, Oxygen 35-100 psig

Rise time %

Available 1-100%: in PC, PS, VC+, VS, BiLevel Purpose to adjust the rate (speed) in which flow reaches from baseline to peak, used to make sure inspiratory needs are met without overshooting PT, slow time may increase WOB (840 defaults to 50%)

Auto-Peep

Expiratory pause key: used to estimate end-expiratory pressure, automatic pause the key is pressed and the ventilator waits until a pressure in circuit is stabilized Manual pause: key is pressed and held cannot be held for longer than 30 seconds.

3 test for PB840

POST: done by vent automatically when vent is on EST: done by service tech SST: takes 3 minutes verifies proper vent operations, compliance, leaks, resistance

Expiratory Sensitivity

Set the percentage of peak flow which the ventilator will cycle out of inspiration, available in spontaneous mode, adjustable from 1-80%, a lower E sens will increase I time, a higher E sens will decrease I time, the proper setting will stop insp flow and allow for exhalation, defaults to 25%

what is the BPS

back up power source; when electrical power drops below a minimum level, BPS will power the vent; Indicator is in the upper right portion of front panel

GUI

graphic user inter phase, 3 functions touch screens, status indicator, knob and selector

what do the indicator colors mean

green light means vent has two minutes of power charged, and is operating, yellow light means BPS is operating and AC power is inaddiquette

COPD and E sens

higher e sens will create longer Te

Sand box

make a lot of mode changes and multiple setting changes, breath timing can be found here, I:E ratio, Ti, Te

Inspiratory pause key

pressing and holding will pause inspiration for 7 seconds, will pause pressure time curve and measure plateau pressure and compliance/resistance

SST

should be done every new PT, every 15 days, new humidifier and circuit, PT cant be connected/"Y"
