sheep eye
Myopia
aka near sightedness caused by the shape of the eye being too long or the cornea is too curved.
glaucoma
aqueous humor drainage issue/produced too quickly. It can put pressure on the optic nerve which then causes it blindness. This can be treated through laser trabecularplasty (fluid leaves eye) or peripheral iridotomy: opens narrow drainage of canal.
Pathway For Light
cornea->aqueous humor->pupil->lens->virtous humor->retina->photoreceptor cells (cones/rods)
Hyperopia
far sightedness and is treated by rounding out the cornea
cataract
hard cloudy patches in lens that can be treated by surgery to break up the tissue/ ultrasound. blurred vision, inability to see in dim light, seeing halos around lights, or vision loss (foggy window).
What is contained in the fovea centralis? How is this related to the lens of the eye in function?
lens focuses light to the fovea centralis (the point in the retina in which cone cells are abundant)
ciliary body
rough like
Astigmatism
unevenly curved cornea ***light is not centered on the retina evenly
