The efforts usually failed. They either could find their way back home or couldn't overpower the armed sailors.
The journey was difficult for slaves. There was a high rate of suicide on the ships. How did they do this?
They jumped overboard and were eaten by sharks or hanged themselves.
How did British ships enforce the ban on slave trade?

They spent ten days in a "pest house" to remove any diseases and that prevented the spread of diseases to others.

They were called "refuse" and were sold at a reduced price.

They were treated more like family. They were abused in Europe and America.

What is an indentured servant?
It is an individual who worked for ownership of his own land. He was not paid for his services. They were sometimes freed after their service was complete.
What happened as there was a higher demand for cotton?
More slaves were needed and slave owners needed multiple slaves to do the jobs. It was hard labor
