Terra Cotta

A form of clay that hardens to keep a shape

Great Wall of China

A fortification 1,500 miles long built across northern China in the 3rd century BC, built in Qin dynasty by Shi Huangdi; prisoners worked on it and when they died they were added as fill. This was built to keep invaders out.

Terra cotta army

A group over 8000 clay soldiers with weapons, wagons, etc. built on Emperor Qin's order to guard his tomb in the afterlife. These were found in Emperor Qin's tomb.
