summary

In the late 1930s Hitler rised to power and began to spread his ideas throughout Germany. He spread that they are the most powerful race and other nationalistic thoughts that put him him above all other countries. This extreme nationalism eventually gave Hitler the idea that conquering other lands is necessary in giving Germany what it needs. He first decided to conquer Austria because he wanted to unite all German speaking people. At this point all countries knew that war was inevitable but Neville Chamberlain decided to impose an appeasement after Germany took an interest in Czechoslovakia. This appeasement included the counties of Great Britain, France and Germany. Their leaders were meeting together to discuss a peace document specifically for Germany to sign due to their treats of conquering land. Some of these leaders included Adolf Hitler, Neville Chamberlain, and Winston Churchill. At the end Hitler signed the document that stated he will receive half of Czechoslovakia and stop invading or adding on to Germany. Hitler also formed and signed the "Nonaggression Pact," another agreement, with the leader of the Soviet Union, Joseph Stalin. This agreement stated that both countries will not be at war with each other. The relationship of the two dictators continued with the invasion of Poland that, is the main cause of the war. This invasion tared the document of the appeasement into shreds as Hitler did exactly what the document that he sign, told not to do. Using blitzkrieg, lightning war, Hitler invades west Poland as the Soviets conquered from the east. In under three months, Poland was divided evenly between Germany and the Soviet Union. France and Great Britain then declared war on Germany. Germany then invades countries, Denmark, Norway, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Luxembourg. Hitler then fought for France and conquered it and headed for the U.K. in planes over seas, but the Nazi's were defeated by Great Britain in the Battle of Britain.
