Open Skies

An agreement between two countries allowing each other's flagship carriers to fly an unlimited number of flights between their countries

Codeshare

An agreement that allows one carrier to use its 2-character airline code to purchase and market seats aboard an aircraft operated by anther carrier

Alliance

An association of airlines to further the common interest of its members

Irregular Operations (IROP)

An unplanned disruption occurring within 24 hrs of a scheduled departure. 2 type: - Delay in scheduled departure or arrival -Flight cancellation or omission of a scheduled stop

Operating carrier

Codeshare partner whose aircraft is used for a flight

Sanctioned Countries

Countries designated by govt''s or regulatory agencies, to which travel and /or shipment of cargo are prohibited

Country of Commencement

Country from which travel on the first international sector takes place

CTO

City Ticket Office

General Sales Agents (GSA's)

GSA's are companies contracted by DL to handle Reservation Sales and CTO ticketing outside the U.S. where the cost of running a DL office may not be economically feasible
