Divisionism
Represent an anti-academic expression of individual freedom. Firs: these painters rejected chiaroscuro modeling, through which form and space were created by gradations between light and dark. The Impressionists eliminated dark tones, resulting in a kind of tonal flatness Second: some of the Impressionists painted en plein air, outdoors, to evoke the interaction of light and air in nature with bright juxtaposed colors.
