Triple Beam Balance

rubber duck prob

When placed in water, a rubber duck has a low weight compared to its volume, so therefore it has a low density. The buoyant force acting on the object is greater than gravity, so the object floats. The object displaces the water equal to its weight, which isn't much because the duck weighs very little. Therefore the duck is positively buoyant because it floats.
