DNS Record types
CNAME record
A Canonical Name record within DNS, used to provide an alias for a domain name.
NS record
Defines the name servers within your namespace. These servers are the ones who respond to your clients request for name resolution
PTR Record
Maps IP address to hostname
SOA record
Start of Authority record. This record identifies the primary name server for the zone. The SOA record contains the host name of the server responsible for all DNS records within the namespace, as well as the basic properties of the domain.
A record
This is an address record that maps an IP address to a host name and is used more often for DNS lookups
SRV record
This record defines the host name and port number of servers providing specific services, such as a Directory Services server
MX record
mail exchange record. Identifies email servers.
