Fertilization
If fertilization happens late in the ovulation period where else might it take place?
...
Where does fertilization most often occur?
Fertilization most often occurs in the Fallopian tubes in females.
Why would it be a problem if only 1 sperm made it all the way to the egg?
It would be a problem if only one sperm made it all the way to the egg because there is a layer around the females egg that is 'broken down' by the reaction of an enzyme in the head of the sperm, it's like many hundreds of sperms 'drill' a way through this layer. One single sperm wouldn't be able to get in to the egg to fertilize it.
