Self Esteem is how much you like yourself and respect yourself. Studies show that if you like yourself, you are more likely to make healthy choices. People who have a low self-esteem are more likely to make unhealthy choices.

Self-actualization is the process in which people achieve their full potential. A person's basic needs must be met before a person can achieve self-actualization.

Teens become critical of their bodies. This occurs because we are starting to see media and pictures of celebrities with the "perfect bodies". This causes us to compare ourselves to them.

denial - Refusing to recognize an emotion or problem. compensation - Making up for weakness in one area by excelling in another area. rationalization - making excuses for actions or feelings. reaction formation - behaving in a way opposite of what you feel. projection - Putting your own faults on another person. regression - Returning to immature behaviors to express emotions.

How do healthful and harmful coping strategies differ? Give an example of each.

A healthful coping strategy helps to improve the situation, while a harmful coping strategy does not. One healthful strategy is to confront the situation head-on. One harmful strategy is to use drugs or alcohol.

What five central traits can be used to define personality? Give a brief explanation of each.

Extroversion: How much you like being with other people. Agreeableness: Your tendency to relate to other people in a friendly way. Conscientiousness: How responsible and self-disciplined you are. Emotional Stability: How relaxed, secure and calm you are, even in difficult situations. Openness to experiences: Your tendency to be curious, imaginative and creative.

Friends who are about the same age and share similar interests.

I think that I choose friends that have similar personalities as well as people with different ones. because I like to hang out with people that like to do the same thing but also I like to hang out with people who will bring me new opportunities as well.

An emotion is a reaction to a situation that involves your mind, body and behavior.Primary emotions are expressed in all cultures, while not all learned emotions are. Primary emotions include happiness, sadness and anger. Learned emotions include love, guilt and shame.
