Insight Superday
Why would you make a good analyst?
A good analyst is... at Rebel One... one of my favorite parts was sourcing and working with founders and learning about the newest impactful companies. Through my experience, I learned how to maintain relationships while building new ones as well as what the right questions to ask were when speaking with founders. Now I hope to take these skills and learn how to apply them to later stage companies at a company like Insight.

How would you value a technology company?
Besides the traditional DCF, precedent transactions. I think two parts: looking at what public companies are trading at/performance, the second would be the company's actual performance and key ratios like EV/Revenue, LTV/CAC, gross profit margins. Combining the two to negotiate the terms as for what the company might be valued at in the future.

What do you want to be 5 years from now?
For the past two years, I've really developed a passion for investing and I know that allocating capital to innovative and impactful companies is what I want to do. Through my experience in VC and conversations, I know that growth equity is where I want to be in the long term as it has the perfect blend of working with founders, more quantitative due diligence, and being at the forefront of innovation.

Why GE?
I am a big believer that capital is one of the main ways you can drive change in society. I began exploring this belief through the lens of VC and at Rebel One, where I've been able to source over 120 deals and take part in 5 syndications. One of my favorite parts was prospecting and working with founders and interacting with impactful companies. However, in VC, the nature of the investments are much less quantitative in nature as oftentimes you're investing in just an idea or the founders. In growth equity, you're looking to accelerate the growth of a company and help them scale. What that means for me is an opportunity to conduct deeper DD and understand exactly how much impact the company can create for society.
Why you over other candidates?
I have experience with all aspects of the analyst role and can start sourcing immediately. Secondly, untraditional background. Lastly, hunger and drive.
Why Tech and SaaS?
Jeff Lieberman said, software is one of the only growth industries in the world where value in innovation and technology is created. I am a big believer that capital can be used to solve some of the most systemic issues in society. Through Rebel One, I saw how we focused on fintech to help solve economic inequality all over the world through fractionalized ownership, embedded finance, and marketplaces. If you back the right SaaS and tech companies, you can make a tremendous difference in the world.

She and I had a very different perspective on investing and impact. She believed that the two should be completely separate and that if you focus on impact your returns will be diluted. What industry would you be in right now besides software?
The biggest upside surprises are going to come from the genomic space, and that's because the convergence of DNA sequencing, artificial intelligence, and gene therapies are going to cure disease.
Explain SaaS to your grandma
Think of software as a box, you put something in, and you get something out. For example, in a factory and put in iron, work, and electricity you get steel. Similar to that, software is the digital version of a factory. It is a tool that takes in inputs and gives you insightful outputs. Microsoft Office, Salesforce, DocuSign.
