Brower
a software that lets you view web pages. New ones are constantly being introduced and others phasing out, but a few you may be familiar with are Chrome, Explorer, Opera, Firefox, and Safari.
application
are programs that run on a computer and perform certain functions other than running the computer. System software is what runs the computer.
apps or applets
are small software applications. Apps are very popular on smartphones, tablets, and other mobile devices. Examples include language translators, weather reports, maps, calculators, dictionaries, news, currency converters, and restaurant finders. An applet performs one specific task, such as recording when a button is clicked or a checkbox checked.
search engines
are web-based computer software or sites on the Web that you can use to search for keywords and specific content on other sites.
keywords
are words or phrases used for searching and finding content on the Web. They are the foundation of cataloging Web content, and they enable us to find specific content.
social media
enable organizations to promote brands and activities and engage with customers, prospects and communities.
blog
is a discussion website consisting of entries, or "posts," of content displayed in chronological order with the most recent showing first. Readers can leave comments and communicate with each other.
ISP
is a private company or government. our Internet service provider offers services such as web page access and email for a fee.
IP address
is a serial number or type of license plate to enable traceability and accountability whenever you browse the Web, send an email or instant message, or download a file. Every computer, mobile phone or other device that accesses the Internet is assigned one.
e-commerce
is a term that stands for electronic commerce, and it means selling or buying products or services on the Internet and World Wide Web.
Malware
is any software that is created by hackers to vandalize, steal, take control, or trick you into taking some action, such as purchasing something or providing personal information.
download
is the term to describe your action when you place a copy of something, such as a photo, document, sound file, or video, from the Internet or World Wide Web onto your computer or other device for yourself.
spam and filtering
refers to email that's sent out in mass quantities to people who do not want it, for the purpose of advertising, delivering malware or to trick you into providing personal information or taking some unwise action on the Web.
HTTP

stands for uniform resource locator, which is another name for web address
