Variable
a letter (or symbol) that represents a number
Expression

Inequality
a mathematical sentence built from expressions using one or more of the symbols <, >, ≤, or ≥
Equation
a mathematical sentence that contains an equal sign
Coefficient
a number multiplied by a variable in an algebraic expression
Term
a number, a variable, or the product of a number and a variable
Constant term
a quantity that does not change; a term that has a number but no variable
Exponent
a symbol that represents repeated multiplication; written as a small number to the right and above the base
Literal Equation
an equation with more than one variable
Like terms
expressions that contain the same variables to the same powers
Consecutive Integers
integers that follow each other in order
Solve
to find an answer (solution) to a problem
Evaluate
to find the value of an algebraic expression by plugging in a number for the variable
Simplify
to make something easier or less complicated
