Panama Papers

-The panama papers were a compliment of 11.5 million documents that connected over 200 countries. -They contained detailed financial and attorney-client information for more than 200,000 offshore entities. -The papers were created by Mossack Fonseca, a Panamanian law firm and corporate service provider -It was discovered that some of Fonseca's shell corporations were used for illegal purposes such as fraud and tax evasion -Most of the offshore entities failed to follow legal requirements -Fonseca denies any involvement. white collar crime or government crime?

Panama papers fits into the category of corporate violence. A large corporation was the mastermind behind the whole scheme therefore it should be considered a corporate violence white collar case. The poison papers could be considered environmental white collar crime, since what was revealed in the papers had to do with harmful toxic chemicals that people were unknowingly being exposed to. It could also be a government white collar crime since some of the parties involved were government agencies, like the EPA. The pentagon papers could fit into the category of government white collar crime, due to the fact that the parties involved were the U.S. government, and even president Nixon tried to cover it up.

Pentagon Papers

-Pentagon papers were a collection of documents that detailed the U.S's involvement in -Vietnam during and even before the war. -The papers were discovered by Daniel Ellsberg, who leaked it to congress but they did nothing. -He then leaked it to the NY times and Washington post. - Nixon passed an injunction preventing NY times from posting article about it, but they challenged it in court. -Courts found that NY times were in their rights and were able to post it. -Charges filed against Ellsberg but dropped due to governmental interference.

Poison papers

-The poison papers contained documents that held information on high toxicity levels within chemical products that were being withheld from the public and the press. -There are a compilation of over 20,000 documents obtained. -The documents consist of: Scientific studies, internal memos and reports, meetings, strategic discussions and sworn testimonies. -The Regulatory Agencies referenced in the documents are: The EPA, The US Forest Service, The FDA, The Veterans Administration, and The Department of Defense. -The Poison Papers reveal: Secrecy, Intent, Collusion, Deception, and Concealment by these industries and regulators. -The Poison Papers are made up of many cases and crimes committed by different industries and regulators throughout the past decade or so. -The industries that were associated with papers were motivated by some financial aspects to withhold this information from the public.
