Direct Message

A 'private' tweet between you and a follower. In order to direct message someone - they must be following you.

Hashtag #

Any word or phrase immediately preceded by the # symbol. When you click or tap on a hashtag, you'll see other Tweets containing the same keyword or topic. (It essentially makes a "group" to follow).

username or handle

How you are identified on Twitter. The People will use the @ symbol & then your username (@username) to mention you in Tweets, send you a Direct Message or link to your profile. Also known as a Twitter Handle.

Block

Making a Twitter user unable to follow you or add you to their Twitter lists, and you will not receive a notification if they mention you in a Tweet.

Follow

Subscribing to an account that enables you to see Tweets by particular users as soon as they post something new. Anyone on Twitter can follow or unfollow anyone else at any time, with the exception of blocked accounts.
