Rule # 10

Capitalize brand names. Example: Lipton's Noodle Soup

Rule # 3

Capitalize days fo the week, months of the year, and holidays. Do not capitalize the names of seasons. Example: My favorite day of autumn is the last Thursday in November, because it's Thanksgiving Day.

Capitalize historical events, periods, and documents. Example: The American Revolution

Capitalize people's names and professional titles when used with a person's proper name. Do not capitalize professional titles by them selves. Example: Judge Wong will be the judge today.

Capitalize the first word and every important word in a title. Do not capitalize articles, prepositions, or short connecting words unless they begin the title. Example: Her favorite short story is "A Rose for Emily."

Capitalize the first word of a direct quotation. Example: The teacher said, "You have been chosen to play Tinkerbell."

Capitalize the first word of every sentence. Example: Every building was old.

Rule # 4

Capitalize the names of all languages, nationalities, races, religions, deities, and sacred terms. Example: My friend who is Ethiopian speaks very little English.

Capitalize the names of specific things and places. Example: I went to Jamestown Post Office.

Rule # 8

Capitalize the words north, south, east, and west when they are used as places rather than as geographical directions. Example: He comes from the Midwest, but south of Indiana.
