Expressionism

1900's - 1910's or early 20th century. The Fauves - French Expressionists. German Expressionists

Futurism

1909 - 1918 (or early 20th century.) WWI 1914 -1918. Futurists were oddly pro - war (that's why it ends in 1918, because many died in war.) Primarily in Italy.

Dada

1910's - 1920's (early 20th century.) Hated war and militaristic thinking (which they associate with logic, order, and reason.) Questions everything. What is art? (Primary concern.) Who makes art? Where does the artistic process take place? Childhood, play, chance.

Cubism

1910's - 1920's or early 20th century. Analytic, Orphism, and Synthetic cubism.

Surrealism

1920's - 1930's (or early 20th century.)

Abstract Expressionism

1940's - 1950's (mid 20th century.) American movement.

Pop Art

1960's - 1980s (or late 20th century.)
