Bone Healing
4 steps of bone healing
1) Hematoma Formation 2) Fibrocartilaginous Callus Formation 3) Bony Callus Formation 4) Bone remodeling
What is Hematoma Formation?
Bone breaks, blood vessels in the bone and periosteum (skin structure) and surrounding tissues, are torn and hemorrhage.
Bony Callus Formation
Bony and cartilaginous material forming a connecting bridge across bone fracture during repair.
What is fibrocartilaginous
Temporary formation of fibroblasts and fibrocartilage which forms at the area of a bone fracture as the bone attempts to heal itself.
How is oxygen carried outside the bone to an individual osteocyte?
Osteocytes Have a long extensions that reach out through channels. These channels collect one Cell to another and to the central canal. Oxygen leaves the blood vessel in the central canal and go through the channels from cell to cell until it reaches the bone.
What is the bone disease that results in brittle and porous bone? What advice would you give someone as there physician for this condition
Osteoporosis. Stay healthy and try to do things on your own but be aware of your condition
Bone remodeling
a lifelong process where mature bone tissue is removed from the skeleton and new bone tissue is formed
