Table gridlines
Nonprinting lines that display between columns and rows in a table.
Destination file
The file into which information or an object is copied.
Explode
to pull out a slice of a pie chart so that it stands away from the pie in order to emphasize it.
AutoFit
An option that resizes a column to accommodate the largest entry.
Clustered bar chart
a bar chart that compares values across categories.
Bar chart
a chart in which the data is arranged in horizontal bars and that is useful for showing comparisons among items.
Pie chart
a chart type that shows the relationship of parts to a whole and plots a single data series.
Header row
The top row of the table; this row is formatted differently from the rows containing the data.
Merge
To combine two or more cells into a single cell.
Split
To divide a cell into two or more cells.
Range
Two or more selected cells on a worksheet that are adjacent or nonadjacent; because the range is treated as a single unit, you can make the same changes or combination of changes to more than on cell at a time.
Lock Aspect Ratio
when this option is selected, you can change one dimension (height or width) of an object, such as a picture or table,and the other dimension will automatically change to maintain the proportion.
Table
A grid of rows and columns.
Source file
A file from which information or an object is copied.
Banded columns
A table setting that enables you to format even columns differently from odd columns to make the table easier to read.
Embedded
A type of object that is saved with, and becomes part of, a PowerPoint file.
Exploded pie chart
A type of pie chart that displays all of the slices disconnected from each other. The slices cannot be manipulated individually.
Bar of Pie chart
A type of pie chart that emphasizes one slice of the pie by representing the slice as a bar showing how the data in the slice are further divided.
Pie of Pie chart
A type of pie chart that emphasizes one slice of the pie by representing the slice as another pie showing how the data in the slice are further divided.
Slices
Categories in a pie chart that represent parts of the whole and show the contribution of each value to the total.
Data series
a group of related data points or chart values that originates in a worksheet cell.
Section
a feature to organize your slides similar to using folders to organize your files.
Chart style
a set of predefined formats applied to a chart, including colors, backgrounds, and effects.
Section header
a slide layout that changes the look and flow of a presentation by providing text placeholders that do not contain bullet points.
Banded rows
a table setting that enables you to format even rows differently from odd rows to make the table easier to read.
chart layout
determines the placement and display of chart elements such as the chart title, legend, and data.
