GC-MS is gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer. by which complex mixtures of chemicals may be separated, identified and quantified. The two types of alcohol can be differentiated by the mass spectrometer as it bombards the samples with electrons.

It is a full range of energy. Gamma rays have the highest energy. It is used for confirmatory tests for drugs--tests that specifically identify one substance.
