The melting pot perspective is that immigrants to America need not relinquish their entire racial or ethnic heritage.

Open a dialogue with those in power to convince them to implement a proposed change, and if that fails then organize
Identify actual outcomes of the colorblind perspective?
People of color are offended by this approach, arguing that it implies a negative attitude about race. In the end people feel being color blind is the same assuming everyone is white. It also denies the services that would benefit ethnic groups that need specific needs. e.g. Chinese students who need more English education than their white peers
What does promoting social justice require people to do?
To promote social justice people must reject prejudiced ideas, articulate pluralistic attitudes, and act on a new consciousness of human differences.
What is tolerance according to pluralists?
Tolerance can create a climate of restraint but not one of understanding, it is far too fragile a foundation for a society. In a society guided by pluralistic beliefs people appreciate differences because everyone is enriched by a diverse society. Individuals have the right to maintain and be proud of their racial, cultural, ethnic, or religious heritage.
