Who is this guy?

Charles Lindberg was born in 1902 and would change the face of aviation in his lifetime. He bought his first airplane 22 years later, the Jenny, which was also a popular plane in the US at the time, for 500 dollars. He set many flying record, and his most memorable feat was being the first person to fly across the Atlantic. There were a few other pilots trying to accomplish that same task, however they believed the weather wasn't ideal for flying over and they didn't fly out as early as Lindberg did. Lindberg used dead reckoning during his flight to navigate because pilotage was impossible since he was traveling across open ocean. After landing he gained instant fame and used this fame to try and further aviations cause and make it more popular and common among other people. He also set many other flying record and in 1937 he made a flight from Washington DC to Mexico city to meet with the US ambassador in Mexico. There he met his wife and they became the most well known and famous couple at that time. Unfortunately not all was happy and well for the couple. In 1932 their 20 month old son was kidnapped and it became the crime of the century. After extensive FBI and police investigation Hauptmann was later convicted. There are many conspiracy theories about this however, thinking that he may have accidentally dropped the baby or he may have had help since he was not smart enough to do it himself. In 1974 Lindbergh died and was buried in Maui. He was the first person to bring aviation into the center stage of attention and will always be known as one of the aviation greats.

Was Lindbergh the man?
