Characteristics of Warm-Blooded Animals

Warm-blooded animals are able to regulate their internal temperature. They can sweat or pant to cool off and have fur and feathers to help keep them warm. They are endothermic-meaning inside heat.

Metamorphosis

(in an insect or amphibian) the process of transformation from an immature form to an adult form in two or more distinct stages. (in an amphibian-the changing of a tadpole into a frog).

Fish

Birds

1. Have hair or fur. 2. give birth to live young. 3. mammal mothers nurse their young with milk. 4. have lungs and need air to breather. 5. warm-blooded

Reptiles

1. Have scales and not fur. 2. Have dry skin. 3. Usually lay eggs and sometimes live young. 4. ear holes instead of ears. 5. 4 legs or no legs. 5. Cold-blooded.

Amphibians

1. Live on land and water. 2. Have webbed feet. 3. breathe with lungs and gills. 4. moist, smooth skin (no hair or fur). 5. 4 legs (sometimes none). 6. Lay many eggs 7. cold-blooded

Characteristics of Cold-Blooded Animals

A cold-blooded animal cannot maintain a constant body temperature. The temperature of their body is determined by the outside surroundings. Cold-blooded animals will move around during the day between the shade and the sun to warm-up or cool down. They are ectothermic-which means outside heat.
