the thesis of your description essay. it is your main idea of your essay, doesn't have to be explicitly stated. not just thesis, also attitude of writing letting the reader know how you feel abt the ideas/event you are describing (tone) dominant impression is what your entire description (your writing of your senses) impresses on the reader (what you want them to understand)

purpose of description essay

to describe something in meticulous detail in order to fulfill all five senses so the reader can picture what is happening clearly in their head the purposes are to convey information without bias or emotion to convey it with feeling

to explain a pattern in a subject that may not have been noticed before

remote cause

underlying reason, not apparent to the observer

what is a cause and effect essay

using cause and effect to explain events or argue for one version of an outcome
