Functional Type

One of the first steps when making a SmartText is to indicate in what contexts you want end users to be able to use it. TO ENSURE PT SAFETY, ANC ORDERS PERFORMS BACKGROUND CHECKING FOR DUPLICATE PROCEDURES AND ALLERGEN INTERACTIONS. THE UPPER PORTION OF THE ACTIVITIY DISPLAYS ANY IMAGING ORDERS ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM FOR THIS PATIENT. BY IDENTIFYING ORDERS ALREADY IN THE SYSTEM, YOU CAN PREVENT DUPLICATE ORDERS.

STUDY NOTES

PROVIDES A WAY FOR THE TECHS TO COMMUNICATE INFO ABOUT THE PATIENT OR STUDY WITH THE READING RADS. UNLIKE AN IN BASKET MESSAGE, THIS NOTE WILL REMAIN LINKED TO THIS EXAM, SO ANY RAD WHO READS IT WILL SEE THE INFO. WRITING A NOTE CAN BE COMARED TO ADDING A QUICK PAPER NOTE TO A STUDY. Interesting Study report

a report that is flagged by the Radiologist/fellow/resident. Used to generate a list of studies that are used as teaching tools/studies, allows you to quickly view all studies that have been marked as "interesting" from the reading palette toolbar. When marking an interesting study, you can indicate a reason and enter comments about that study using SmartTools or free text.

Impression

a short summary of the physician's diagnosis of the patient's condition based on the region under study

Study History

access from the reading work list, once clicked it jumps into the patient's study history for a selected patient. Is a report that is used to look at all of the studies completed for a particular [patient for a specified time period. May configure by order type and procedure category.

Unsigned Studies report

allows you to quickly report on all studies that have not been signed in the system. It shows you any assigned pools or designated owners, how long the study has been unsigned, and the status of each study. Divided into three main areas: • Toolbar for performing follow-up actions • Main display area • Bottom pane that can house print group-based reports to display additional information about the exam

SmartTex

are built and maintained by administrators. It is important to get feedback from end users to modify and create the SmartText that will be used by a facility, but that information should be gathered and applied by the SmartTools administrators. This will help to keep the SmartTools records organized.

SmartTools

are tools used in Epic to enter standardized documentation, such as notes or letters. They can be used in any SmartTool-enabled text field. Any user can have access to these documentation tools and should take advantage of them, in the recording of a narrative and impression.

SmartList

built by SmartTool administrators, may give physicians and other users the ability to create and edit their own. They are built and edited in the Smart ______ Editor. typically exist inside another SmartTools (Phrases, Texts, and Links). Since Epic build recommendations typically encourage administrators to build the smallest parts of build first, you will build a this and then build another SmartTool in which to use it.

Reading Macro

can be configured to set default values in these fields, to save the radiologist the time of entering them manually. can be configured to set default values on these SmartForms, to save the cardiologist the time of clicking through every button on a "normal" result.

SmartPhrase

can be shared either with individual users, or with multiple users at the same time by adding the phrase to a system list. The owner of the this can decide whether other users have the ability to edit, or if the system should create new duplicate records so that each user has their own copy. created "on the fly", to delete or edit an can only be done in SmartPhrase Manager by an administrator.

Recent Studies repor

gives physicians a quick way to find studies that they have been working on and finished recently. You define a date range and other criteria using the report settings window. Any studies that are signed as preliminary, needs review, or final, or that are sent to transcription are included in the report

Chart Review

gives users access to a comprehensive patient history. The activity is organized to resemble a paper chart users and providers can view information about a patient's medical history. Because Chart Review presents display-only information, more than one user can view Chart Review for a patient at the same time. The Chart Review activity has many tabs that separate the patient's medical history and make finding information easier.

Reading palett

is a study-specific activity where a reading physician reads the images and records a narrative and impression for the study

Reporting Workbench

may be used by both end users and administrators. Reporting Workbench on demand, and users with the appropriate security can edit reports or create new reports from a report template or another existing report

Result Review

powerful tool for reviewing results from lab tests or procedures. Results are grouped and shown according to your facility's resulting system, and you can easily zero in on the information you most want to see. For example, you can choose to view just new results, just abnormal or flagged results, or results within a certain time period.

SmartLinks

reduce documentation time by automatically customizing the information. these can pull in information stored in the patient's chart or other records. There are three ways for end users to use these in SmartTool-enabled text boxes: • Automatically when a it is a component of a SmartText or SmartPhrase • By typing a period and then the name of the it (for example: .name and .sex) • By searching in the Butler

Reporting Workbench Template
