Human interest stories help maximize media exposure because some people can see the stories as unique that other people need to hear where it can spread on from a story to a newspaper to a talk-show, ect. Also people want to hear about accomplishments of others especially in sports. For example, when you hear an announcement for a MVP in sports the athlete it brings the play tons of publicity whether they win or are even nominated. People like to hear stories of people overcoming obstacles because it inspires others which is content people like to hear about.
