As rightly said by Eric Schmidt "The rise of Google, the rise of Facebook, the rise of Apple, I think are proof that there is a place for computer science as something that solves problems that people face every day." After four years of work experience at Infosys Limited, I want to return to Academic studies and undertake Graduate studies in Computer Science at the Washington State University. I completed my undergraduate studies from West Bengal University of Technology, India. I joined Infosys as a system engineer trainee. After my training I joined the Education and Research department at Infosys. I have worked on various Microsoft technologies. I have also participated in the research and presented several POCs as a part of my job. My responsibilities also included conducting technical sessions for other employees. Although everything was going smoothly, but somewhere I felt that though I am learning a lot through my work and also via technology trainings but I felt the lack of a formal education and I also wanted dedicated time to go into the depth of the technology and explore it to the fullest. When I discussed this with my seniors they strongly encouraged me to go for a M.S Degree in Computer Science. My love for Computer Science started from my undergraduate days. Although my major was in Electronics and Communication Engineering but it was the subjects related to Computers and programming that I loved to study. As moved ahead in my undergraduate days I realized that Computer is everywhere, let it be Digital Electronics or Microprocessor or Software Engineering none of the subjects are complete without Computers. My final year project was also related to computer science, the project name was 'Designing a 32 bit soft processor', I specifically chose this project as it needed knowledge of Computer Architecture and also involved coding. The project was coded in VLSI language. After my undergraduate degree I chose to join an Information Technology Company so that I can work on programming. The next big question was where to get the degree from, after an extensive research I found out that USA will be the best place to pursue my studies. I would like to highlight some of the key points that helped me reach this decision. Since 1994 computers have been out performing automobiles in terms of units sold annually in the U.S.A. All in all computers contributed nearly 10% of United States of America GDP. The United Sates of America is way ahead of any other nation in computer technology, manufacture and sales and would thus provide me the best infrastructure and know-how currently available. Besides, it is a country where Science and Technology is a way to achieve social progress and where improving human life's very important. All these factors coupled together make the United States of America an ideal place to pursue my further studies. WSU has excellent faculty and infrastructure that I feel will be well - suited for my career aspirations .I will be getting a dynamic atmosphere which will help me grow both professionally and personally. The flexibility of the curriculum will give me the broad-based education I need to widen the scope of my knowledge and skills. Also an international education will give me the training and the caliber to meet the global clients. I look forward to being an active contributing member of the student community at your University.

Facts and figures mentioned at the University Website also helped me strengthen my decision. I would like to mention some of the key points: 1) The faculty to student ratio (Faculty:Student :: 39:43) is excellent and students are sure to get individual attention that makes WSU different from other Universities. 2) Apart from that 58.14% of students receive scholarship which makes it a very high percentage as compared to other universities. 3) Another factor that helped me narrow down WSU is the job security that a WSU graduate has is quite high as Washington State has a shortage of Graduates and me getting a degree will not only provide my better chances of getting a job but also the jobs that are available are highly paying and also challenging. 4) The cost of living in WSU, Pullman is much lower as compared to other Graduate Schools With all these facts in mind, I feel WSU will be one the best things that can happen to me! In conclusion, I feel that graduate study at your University will be the most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives. I would be grateful to you if I'm accorded the opportunity to pursue my graduate studies with financial assistance at your institution and am able to justify your faith in me.

I, Rittick Kundu, working at Wipro Technologies and I would like to express my best recommendation for my colleague and junior, Puja. Being her technical lead in Wipro it is my pleasure to write in support of Puja who seeks to study for Masters in (write the exact course name here) Her ambition is well justified by her best job level performance throughout project. Her dedication and also a different approach towards the objective helped us achieve the goal. I have known her well for past two years. My interactions with her started when she was in final year of graduation and I visited their university for pre joining orientation session and mini project work as a part of their curriculum. After joining Wipro she joined my project as a support engineer. The job demanded her to work on technical as well as management side and she managed it pretty well with several recognition mails from the client praising her abilities and skills. She is an individual of abstract thoughts and will think out of box and a approach that is different from normal. She will always mention that if we don't take risks will never get the perfect approach. She always had an inclination towards Entrepreneurship and was interested in exploring career as a project manager with technical knowledge. She has always mentioned her personnel thoughts before me and I acknowledge her interest in research in field of (mention exact course work name here). With her present skills a degree from IIT, Chicago will surely help her to extend her interest in research and will make us proud. In short, she is a person with all round facets of life and an ability to excel at most of them. I believe that Puja will excel at your university and extend valuable contribution to the ongoing research activities. I recommend him for admission to MS program with a full financial aid.

Par 1 to 3

"The biggest risk is not taking any risk... In a world that changing really quickly, the only strategy that is guaranteed to fail is not taking risks." The world is changing, and people who are bringing this change are entrepreneurs. I have learnt and understood that all modern entrepreneurs have not only utilized their visions to turn their dreams into reality but have also used the modern technology for betterment of our lives. I consider Facebook as one of the best examples of modern day entrepreneurship, what started as a social media tool today stands as one of the largest IT companies. Also my father's dedication towards our dream home was one of the contributing factors that helped me understand the importance of patience, discipline and determination. A few years later, it was this belief that led me to major success in organizing a cultural event in our sprawling locality. As per my analysis there were two major areas of concern - lack of funds and unwillingness of the community towards contributing to the event. I started with convincing my best friend and his parents (hence adding new members to the initiative). Beyond the schooling and study hours, I led the team towards garnering contributions from more than 100 households in the locality. Slowly and gradually, and over a 2 month period, we had crossed our targeted revenue collection. The event was a mega-success and established the trend for similar cohesive celebrations and the foundation for the "Cultural events committee" in the residential complex. Another opportunity that helped me realize that how important project management can be when I was offered the Power Audit project by one of my lecturers. The objective of the project was to do an audit of the power consumption in University Campus and then suggest ways to cut down the electricity consumption. We started with interviewing from team members and after careful analysis of interviewee's ability we came up with a team of six people. At that point I realized how important team member's selection can be. Then we divided the tasks for each member and conducted regular meetings to analyze the progress and work on issues (if any). The project was successful and university management was impressed by our efforts.

It gives me immense pleasure in recommending Ms. Puja for the graduate program in (Yaha pe course ka exact name likho) at your University. I have know Puja for 1.8 years in my capacity as a Technical Lead. Puja joined our organization as Software Engineer Trainee and our first meeting was during her technical training sessions. She is a very bright student always curious to learn and explore new things. Her technical skills were very well evident during the various examinations and certifications conducted by the company. I noticed her management skills during the final project implementation. To give a background on this, as a part of training session at Wipro all the trainees have to work in group of four and have to complete a mini project which acts as a final submission marking the end of their training. This project is aimed at nurturing the technical as well management skills of the trainees. She approached me that she wants to lead this project and after a discussion with other group mates (who also were very confident about her management skills). I must say she managed the project very well and precisely followed the software development life cycle. After this she joined a maintenance project (Client: Thames Water, UK) in my team. She is working on two projects and she is managing her time very well giving appropriate amount of time to both. When she approached me with the idea of joining ABC course (Yaha pe sahi name likhna) at IIT Chicago, I was really thrilled by the idea that she will get a chance to excel in both technical as well as managerial fields. In my view she is an outstanding techie and possess great management skills, and I am sure she will make a great graduate student,. I recommend her strongest terms for admission to Graduate program at your university preferably with financial aid. Sincerely, Mani (Poora nam likhna) Wipro Technologies Limited.

Not many of my academic subjects kept me thinking as much as my Undergraduate courses in Data Structures, Computer Architecture and Software Engineering. Whenever I see Pranav Mistry doing amazing things with sixth sense or read about Steve Jobs creating Apple, or doing a simple thing like logging to Facebook and Gmail, the only thing that comes to my mind is "Wow, what a marvel it is". But I don't believe in being just a consumer/user of these technologies, I want to create them. It is not easy, the technology that we see today has been achieved after years of extensive research. And I want to contribute to it too and I have been planning my academic career since long with this thing in mind. My interest in computers was sparked when I used it for the first time in school. I still remember my first day in Computer Lab, where Ms Nalini (my computer teacher) started our course on Logo. She made some amazing designs just by writing few lines of code. That was the first time I realized how powerful this thing can be. There was no turning back after that, I took Computer as my optional subject and learned DOS and Basic. I got another opportunity to continue my passion towards Computers during my undergraduate days. After passing high school, I joined West Bengal University of Technology to complete my Bachelor's degree. I chose Electronics and Communications Engineering as the course was a well balanced mixture of Hardware, software and coding. I learned subjects like Computer Architecture that helped me build an understanding of how the computer works and the various components that help make this wonderful device. I also learned Software Engineering which helped me get the basics of how the software industry works. Apart from this I handled the role of being the Student Representative of the ECE branch for four years, a responsibility that included acting as the bridge between the students and the administration, scheduling additional lectures for the class, assisting the faculty advisor in her duties and assisting the students in case of any problems. This experience brought to the fore my leadership abilities, while also assisting in honing my social skills. After completing my Bachelor's degree I joined Wipro Technologies as Software Engineer where we went through a rigorous programming training for three months. As a part of our training program we developed an online Pizza Delivery system. I volunteered for the position of Team Lead. It was a team of four members. We started with Requirement gathering, documentation and finally coding and testing. We then deployed the system for release. Hence we followed the Waterfall model fully. Here I learned and exercised both technical (as a developer) and management (as a team lead) aspect of project development. As a sole initiative I also developed an Android App for the project and it was awarded as the most innovative fresher's project of the year. I am currently working for Thames Water from Wipro Technologies. The project I am working on is a Java J2EE based project. I have learned Java EE 6 web services and also Oracle as a part of this project. I am also working on another system for the same client, the application has to be rewritten in .Net technology, hence I am learning C# and ASP .Net. I am also learning MVC (Model-View-Controller) pattern. As a part of my self learning initiative I have worked on and devloped various projects using web technologies like HTML, CSS, Javascript and Jquery. I am currently learning Knockout JS and MVVM as it is one of the hottest technology in market these days. I aspire to study MS in computer science at Washington State University as it is one of the most highly rated postgraduate programs offered in USA. Also the excellent faculty to student ratio was another factor that helped me narrow down WSU as a choice of my study. Other factors like the low living cost and excellent opportunities for on-campus recruitment and opportunities like TA and RA further helped me strengthen my decision and last but not the least, my best friend is pursuing her studies from WSU and is in her final semester and after talking to her from both personal and academic perspective I feel WSU will be the best choice for my further studies. In conclusion, I feel that graduate study at your WSU will be the most logical extension of my academic pursuits and a major step towards achieving my objectives. I would be grateful to you if I'm accorded the opportunity to pursue my graduate studies with financial assistance at your institution and am able to justify your faith in me.

Part 2

After completing my graduation degree, I joined as a Trainee Engineer in Wipro Technologies. A MS degree from IIT Chicago is the key to achieving my career goals at this juncture in my career. It will enable understanding at a cross-functional level of enterprise complexity and at a perfect stage to be able to apply such learning's. Such an educational endeavor will complement my core competencies as a technologist and equip me to utilize my knowledge and expertise towards building world-class computer applications that will solve a variety of business challenges and enable my clients to create value. The School's approach of cultivating intuition through academic coursework, case studies and consulting and research assignments will help me strengthen my fundamentals and develop well-trained managerial and entrepreneurial instincts in my chosen field. I also hope to equip myself with advanced analytical tools and techniques that will foster managerial efficiency.
