Superficial Veins of The Upper Limb
1. Basilic Vein
Arises from dorsal venous arch of hand. Accompanies medial antebrachial cutaneous nerve along ulnar border of forearm. Passes anterior to medial epicondyle.
Median Antebrachial Vein
Arises in palmar venous network. Ascends on the front of forearm. Terminates in median cubital or basilic vein.
2. Cephalic Vein
Ascends along lateral surface of biceps. Pierces brachial fascia. Lies in deltopectoral triangle with deltoid branch of the thoracoacromial trunk.
1. Cephalic Vein
Begins as radial continuation of dorsal venous network. Runs on lateral side. Connected with basilic vein by the median cubital vein.
1. Median Cubital Vein
Connects the cephalic vein to basilic vein over cubital fossa.
2. Median Cubital Vein
Lies superficial to bicipital aponeurosis, thus separates it from brachial artery.
Dorsal Venous Network
Network of veins formed by dorsal metacarpal veins that receive dorsal digital veins. Continues proximally as cephalic vein and basilic vein.
2. Basilic Vein
Pierces deep fascia of arm. Joins brachial veins (venae comitantes of brachial artery) to form axillary vein at lower border of Teres major muscle.
3. Cephalic Vein
Pierces the costocoracoid membrance of clavipectoral fascia. Ends in axillary vein.
