Test 2 Chapter 4 Histology lab (maria ribiero FIU)
Muscle tissue is composed of cells specialized for contraction. Muscle is classified into three types according to their structure and function: Skeletal muscle cells - striated, voluntary control Cardiac muscle cells - striated, involuntary control Smooth muscle cells - nonstriated, involuntary control
Skeletal muscle cells - striated, voluntary control Cardiac muscle cells - striated, involuntary control Smooth muscle cells - nonstriated, involuntary control
Skeletal Muscle Cells - can vary in length from a few millimeters to almost a meter Myofibrils - the cytoplasm is filled with myofibrils that extend the entire length of the cell. Individual myofibrils are only seen where they are slightly separated.
