A venial sin is not a serious offense. It strains the relationship with God, but it is reparable with charity. A mortal sin is a grave offense against God and it destroys the relationship with him.

Explain how the manna provided by God is a foreshadowing of the Eucharist.

Manna is bread like flakes that God rained down from the sky when the Israelites were starving in the desert. It was literally the bread of life, as i provided the necessary nutrients when His people were dying. This foreshadows the Eucharist, or Bread of Life of the New Testament that spiritually sustains us today.

What is primeval history?

Primeval history are the events that occurred before people began recording and writing them down

Describe what is at the heart of the Ten Commandments.

Reverence and love for God and our neighbors. It is important to respect and love God because he created us and is always there for us. It is also important to do the same for our neighbors because we are brothers and sisters.

Explain how the Israelites ended up as slaves in Egypt.

The 12 Tribes of Israel travel to Egypt because of the famine. The number of descendants grow as people make families and people continue to move there. The pharaoh of Egypt sees the growing number of Israelites as a threat so he enslaves them.

Summarize how Moses ends up in the House of the Pharaoh?

The Pharaoh and the government decide to kill all of the male Israelite babies. Because of this, Moses' sister, Miriam, places Moses in a basket and floats him down the river. The Pharaoh's daughter finds Moses and adopts him. He is then brought up in the house of the pharaoh by his mother who was hired as a nurse.

What are the Twelve Tribes Israel and what is their origin?

The Twelve Tribes of Israel are groups of people descended down from one of the twelve son of Jacob. Their origin is Jacob.

What was the Original Sin?

The original sin when Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden.

Compare and contrast the idea of the Passover lamb and the Paschal lamb.

The passover lamb was sacrificed so the Israelites could avoid the consequences of the 10th plague. The paschal lamb, Jesus, was sacrificed so we can avoid the permanent consequences of sin. Both lambs allow us to be "passed over"

List the events that took place on the night of the tenth plague.

When Moses asks the pharaoh to let his people go and the pharaoh refuses, God decides it is time for the tenth plague. God speaks through Moses and tells the Israelites to mark their doors with the blood of a sacrificed lamb. This will allow their first born son to be spared. God unleashes the 10th plague and the pharaoh tells Moses to take the Israelites and leave, as his own child had died. As the Israelites escape, the Pharaoh changes his mind, but his army drowns in the Red Sea as they were chasing after the Israelites.
