What happened at the Battle of New Orleans?

The British attacked New Orleans so they could have control of the Mississippi River. Andrew Jackson (for the U.S.) surrounded New Orleans with regular soldiers, Indians, state militia, and Pirates. They caught the British in an open field. More than 2000 British were killed. The U.S. won the Battle of New Orleans. It was the Last major conflict for War of 1812.
