Using the information provided in the video and your own research, briefly describe the concept of resource recovery and how it is being used to mitigate issues related to sanitation. (2 pts) AND Briefly describe at least two technologies that are being used and/or developed in resource recovery efforts. (2 pts)

Resource recovery is the concept of getting back the nutrients and resources we ingest from our diets back into our agriculture and sanitation. For sanitation specifically, with more resource recovery this would mean increasing the access to sustainable fertilizers in less developed countries almost entirely and increase the global access to sanitation and clean water. One technology that exemplifies resource recovery is composting toilets. The feces go into a chamber, and it is left to desiccate and dry out until it resembles the texture and appearance of soil. Crystal fertilizer consists of taking urine, precipitating compounds out of it such as magnesium, ammonium, and phosphate, which when taken resembles a white powder that can be used in agriculture.
