What is a Cluster?

A Cluster is defined as data points, or information, gathered or clustered in a certain area, with a few data points scattered in other places on the graph.

What is a Line of Best Fit?

A Life of Best Fit is defined as going through most of your points on the scatter plot. This helps show the relationship of the points where they are going, to help see if your graph is positive, negative, or no correlation.

What is a Negative Correlation?

A Negative Correlation is defined as one variable increases, the other variable decreases.

What is a Positive Correlation?

A Positive Correlation is defined as as one variable increases, the other variable increases.

What is a Correlation?

A correlation, also known as association, shows a relationship from the scatterplot that the points tend to follow.

What is a Scatter Plot?

A graph that has points that do not connect, but rather show a positive, negative, or no correlation.

What is an Outlier?

An Outlier is defined as a data point that doesn't fit in with the rest of the other data points- it is simply out in the middle of its own area. (Think of it as an outsider or as being in the outfield like in baseball!)

What is an example of Negative Linear association (correlation)?

An example of Negative Linear association would be that gas mileage decreases as the weight of cargo on a truck increases.

What is an example of Negative Non-Linear Association (Correlation)?

An example of Negative Non-Linear Association would be that a temperature of a cup of coffee decreases over time.

What is an example of Positive Linear Association (Correlation) with Clusters?

An example of Positive Linear Association would be as height increases as shoe size increases; one cluster is mostly girls and the other cluster is mostly boys.

What is No Correlation (No Association)?

No Correlation (no association) is defined as having no relationship at all.

How many types of Correlation are there?

There are 3 types of Correlation. The 3 type of Correlation include: 1. Positive Correlation 2. Negative Correlation 3. No Correlation

Correlation can create Linear and ___________ lines of best fit through their graphs.

Nonlinear
