How can you fix a Run-On or Comma Splice?
-Put a period after the first independent and capitalize the next word. -Put a semi-colon between two independent clauses. -Put a comma and a conjunction (and, but, or, so) betweeen two independent clauses.
Independent Clause
A clause in a complex sentence that can stand alone as a complete sentence.
Comma Splice
A comma splice has two independent clauses together with only a comma and no conjunction.
Run-On Sentences
A run-on sentence has two or more independent clauses with no punctuation between them.
Conjunction
A word used to connect clauses or sentences or to coordinate words in the same clause. Ex. "and", "but", or "so"
Fragment
An incomplete part of a sentence.
