Sadducees

-are called "chief priests, elders, and scribes" or the "leaders of the people" -only accepted the teaching from the five original books of the OT

Tax Collectors

-considered "public sinnners" and were most despised in society -also called publicans, commonly abused their power

priest

-instructed people based on the religious ceremonial laws and pronounced blessings upon them -were tasked to discover, diagnose, and cure certain diseases such as leprosy

Matthew

-a tax collector -one of Jesus' twelve apostles

The Poor and the Outcast

-Jesus mingled with the ____ -to the Pharisees, they were the "rabble of society" who knew nothing of the law -Jesus called them the "little ones" or the "lost sheep of Israel"

Samaritans
