MyPyramid vs myplate. My Pyramid is a much more complex and deeper illustration of food recommendations with also creating a new focus on importance of physical activity. Myplate is a simple illustration which breaks up a plate into 4 sections with an added section for dairy drinks. This illustration is much easier to understand than the MyPyramid

Originated in 1980s where the recoomendations were to help limit nutrient defficiencys but this has changed to where it is now focused on promoting health and preventing chronic diseases.
