verb

words that show action, or words that link the subject of a sentence to another word in the sentence. Examples: punch, think, is, would be

noun

the name of a person, place, thing, or idea. Examples: Homer Simpson, a doctor, Massachusetts, monkey, love

adjective

words that describe a person, place, thing, or idea. Examples: brave, clever, silly

Adjective questions

Which one, how many, what kind/ Type

interjection

a word that expresses emotion, usually marked by an exclamation point. Examples: Oops! Oh! Ouch! Help!

conjunction

a word that join words or groups of words together in a sentence. Examples: for, and, now, but, or, yet, so

adverb

a word that modifies a verb, adjective, and another adverb showing HOW. Examples: softly, wisely, easily

preposition

a word that shows the relationship between a noun or pronoun and another word in a sentence. Examples: in, since, after, before, as, to

pronoun

a word that takes the place of one or more nouns. Examples: he, she, it, they, we, us, mine, his

When, where, how/in what manner, to what extent

Prepositional Phrase

begins with a preposition and ends with the very next noun or pronoun may have any amount of modifiers.
