Public opinion

Socialism

Small taxes that were levied on the right to vote. Poll taxes were used by most Southern states to exclude African Americans from voting registers. The Twenty-Fourth Amendment declared poll taxes void in 1964.

The situation occurring when voters cast their ballots for congressional candidates of the president's party because they support the president

Prospective voting

Voting based on what a candidate pledges to do in the future about an issue if elected.
