First collecting quantitative data and then qualitative data. They inform each other --> the qualitative data helps to explain the quantitative data. Is very straightforward but takes a long time. Best for explaining and interpreting relationships

What is the difference between a fixed and flexible design?

Fixed: -all research elements decided in advance. -More common with quantitative designs -elements = research questions/definitions, data sources etc. Flexible: -research design allowed to evolve throughout the study -everything can be revised in light of new information -more common with qualitative designs

How do you measure trustworthniess of qualitative research?

For measuring truth value: credibility = want to see the interview guide, does the data reflect the concept?
